MA Church is with us today, answering some Blisseful questions!
What part of the writing process do you dread?
Oh Lord, that’s easy: self-editing. I try to go back every few paragraphs and check, but I still miss things. Drives me crazy. And comma’s and I have a hate-hate relationship, lol.
List your top three pet peeves.
Being late. Call me crazy, but if I’m told someone will be here at a certain time, I look for them to actually be here! Why can’t they just call and let me know that they’ll be late? I hate waiting, lol.
Buy a bag of cookies and the kiddos cleans them out by night fall. And I didn’t get any! Grrr.
Putting all the dirty dishes in the dish washer, and the kiddos bring a whole glob of plates to the kitchen as soon as I get done. This just makes me insane. It’s like they know!
Tell us about your latest release.
Nighttime Wishes was released by Romance First a few weeks ago. It starts with a boy, Shawn, who is watched by an alien, called Ziang. Once Shawn comes of age, Ziang plans to slip down to Earth, take Shawn, and get away quick. Unfortunately, Ziang’s plan doesn’t work quite how he wants, and he crash lands. Things get crazy from there on out, lol.
The Bigger Brief Reluctant Romance anthology is out too. This is my first time releasing anything with the Wednesday Briefers, and I’m excited it. My story is M/M and called Changing His Mind.
What have you got coming soon for us to look out for?
I also have a story called Priceless coming out July/August with Dreamspinner. It’s a three part series that revolves around Cupid.
Those two things are next up, but I have something coming out nearly every month until the end of the year.
Where do you get your best ideas?
HA! *evil laugh* Nothing and no one is safe, lol. I get ideas at the mall, Wal-Mart, things I see on TV, conversations I hear from the kiddos, pictures. LOL. Things just hit me and I run with them.
What do you do to relax?
I love to sit on the back porch and stare at the lake. I like to listen to the birds, geese, ducks, frogs—you name it, and it’s probably running around out here. We live in the country so there’s a lot of wild life. Plus there are big, mature shade trees… It’s the perfect way for me to just let go.
Do you write about what turns you on?
Absolutely, and M/M flips my switch. I’ve tried to write M/F and had all sorts of problems with the female character. Go figure, lol.
What length of story do you prefer to write?
Around the 30K range.
If we were to come to your house for a meal, what would you give us to eat?
Fried pork chops, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls, with a side salad. And a big pitcher of sweet tea. Usually there’s something for dessert. I really like homemade ice cream, lol, and make that often.
Do you prefer hot or cold weather and why?
Oh, hot weather. I live in the deep south, so I guess that’s a good thing, lol. The cold affects my back, and makes it hard for me to move. I had back surgery years ago.
I have several friends that live in the northern part of the U.S. I can’t see how they deal with all that snow. I guess it’s what you get used to, but I don’t think I could ever get used to that. Good God, they have to dig their cars out sometimes!!! That blows my mind, lol.
Do you listen to music when you’re writing?
No way. Nor do I watch TV. I’m too easily distracted. If I watch TV or listen to music I end up writing whatever I’m watching or listening to, lol. Seriously, it’s happened before.
Do you ever read your stories outloud?
Rarely. I have teen kids. Which mean I usually have a house full of teen kids, lol. But even if they’re all gone, and the hubby is at work, I still don’t do it often. Mainly because of Kitty-Kitty, our cat. If I start talking outloud he thinks I’m talking to him… and answers back. LOL. And well, I end up getting distracted, and there goes that sexy love scene I was working on!
