As I’m sure many of you are already aware President Obama yesterday made many people proud by confirming that
“I think same-sex couples should be able to get married.”
Now I’m sure there is some bit of political agenda in this somewhere, he’s the US president, it kinda comes with the territory but I really applaud him for being strong, brave and admitting that he was wrong and that he’s had a change of attitude.
I read this article from abc and this is the bit that really warmed my heart.
“we are both practicing Christians and obviously this position may be considered to put us at odds with the views of others but, you know, when we think about our faith, the thing at root that we think about is, not only Christ sacrificing himself on our behalf, but it’s also the Golden Rule, you know, treat others the way you would want to be treated. And I think that’s what we try to impart to our kids and that’s what motivates me as president and I figure the most consistent I can be in being true to those precepts, the better I’ll be as a as a dad and a husband and, hopefully, the better I’ll be as president.”
Thank you Mr Obama for standing up for what Jesus himself said.
“Love one another as I have loved you.” John 13:34
And on a similar point I was heartened to see this on facebook yesterday too
From the good people at believeoutloud.com, I beleive, in response to the news that North Carolina have passed a constitutional amendment defining marriage as solely between a man and a woman, which is incredibly sad news indeed but we’re not going to dwell on that. Hopefully they will see the error of there ways soon enough.
I am happy to stand with Mr Obama and have sent an email of thanks to him, if you want to as well just sign this All Out Letter of Thanks because when we work together we can make this world a better place for all.
