I have sinned against you in thought, word and deed.

That statement when I was a church goer used to make me smirk. Surely if He’s all knowing, all seeing he already knows I’ve done it. Though it led me to realise that it is the progression of a fetish to realisation.

Thought: The conception of the kink in question, you hear about it, read about it and start to conceive what it must be like to partake in said fetish area. It mulls around building into scenarios and playing out in fantasies in our minds.

Word: Is the voicing almost an announcement of interest in this kink or of a desire to experience it. You talk with like-minded people who share in the interest learn all you can about it from people who have experienced it. Even discuss who you will try it with.

Deed: All this leads up to the deed, actually partaking in the kink with someone. This is often a joyous experience and on rare occasions an epiphany for kinksters. A discovery of sorts that transcends basic vanilla desires. You have found that thing you enjoy to do which breaks the norm in the world of sex.

The theme of religion is never far from the world as in this post today. I am the grandson of a church of England vicar, at one point or another I attended church with at least one sub sat with me in the congregation. Yet it appears that instead of a conservative point of view and moral way of thinking I ended up being more liberal and dare I say kinky. When I reached confessional I always read that line quoted at the beginning of this post and thought, ‘Lord, if you know my thoughts, words and deeds I feel very sorry for you.’

Note from Victoria:

As regular readers know, the subject of sex and spirituality is a favourite of mine. The church as an organisation has done a lot to damage people’s views of sex. So many people are hung up about their sexuality courtesy of archaic views expressed with a need to control and not in the fun, consensual BDSM way. True Christianity embraces all and judges no one.

If you’re kinky, God made you so. I had a revelation back in 2012 around my faith and my erotic writing. The epiphany in my post I was born this Way can work for kink too.  Embrace your kink, love yourself and revel in your beautiful uniqueness. God loves you just the way you are. I say this with confidence because I know he loves the weird, wonderful patchwork that is me.
