Friends Friday Northern Bird Special!

Welcome the lovely, the smutty and the incredibly brave (she’s sharing a room with me this weekend!) Lucy Felthouse to Friends Friday today!

Igniting the Spark by Lucy Felthouse

Huge thanks to Victoria for having me on her site for Friends Friday again – it’s always nice to be here. And you know the best part? Victoria and I will be seeing each other for the second weekend running from tomorrow – woohoo! Though I do hope she will forgive me if I’m a little grumpy when she first sees me, my train is very early, and I’m not a morning person. Though I believe Ms. Blisse is bringing some of her yummy cooking, that will put a smile on my face! ;)

Anyway, on to the blog post…

One of the things I like best about being a writer is how the tiniest things can turn into a story. All it takes is a little spark of an idea, and you can then ignite it and turn it into a piece of writing. And luckily, there seem to be plenty of sparks!

An example of this is my latest release, an erotic short story from Resplendence Publishing, called The Cottage in the Woods. The inspiration from this story came about when I was driving along a route I take pretty regularly, and I happened to glance to the side of the road, and noticed a lovely cottage behind some gates. Surrounding the cottage on the other three sides were lots and lots of trees, which led me to think about what the place would be like if the road I was driving on wasn’t there, and the cottage was very remote. From there, the story started to bubble away in my mind, and the result was a lesbian shapeshifter story! I wonder how the owners of the cottage would feel if they knew? Perhaps I should put a business card through their door!

The real cottage looks nothing like this one, actually, but this is how I imagine the one in my story to be – with the fox posing nicely in the garden, of course ;)

Here’s the blurb for The Cottage in the Woods:

Living in her remote cottage in the woods, Heidi doesn’t get many visitors. So when she spots a fox in her garden, she’s delighted. However, her joy quickly turns to dismay when she thinks the beautiful creature may be injured. Heading out to see how she can help, Heidi is astounded when something happens that makes her question her eyesight – not to mention her sanity. Once she gets over her shock and discovers the reason behind the peculiar encounter, Heidi is mighty glad that the fox chose her garden to visit.
