Everybody loves a birthday party so me and Mr Blisse eagerly headed out for Club Lash‘s 17th Birthday celebration. The theme of the night was Hollywood glamour so I got to wear my slinky velvet dress which I love and don’t get to wear often enough!  We did however kinda forget to get our photos taken at Club Lash itself so hence the not so professional photo above. Will do better next time, promise.

Bangkok Bar is becoming my second home, I spend so much time there but that’s because it’s where all the cool stuff happens. Sexy, fun, arty creative stuff which, in my best Austin Powers voice, is my bag, baby.

As always we were greeted with big, friendly smiles but unusually I was also greeted with brownies. Gluten free brownies. The good folks of Club Lash had got them especially for me as they knew I wouldn’t be able to eat the birthday cake. I was truly touched.

And they were delicious. It was really nice to be able to join in the happy munching (ooh maybe not the right term in this context *L*) when the lovely Lash ladies brought the cake around.

Talking about lovely Lash ladies, to celebrate 17 years of Club Lash I thought I’d ask the amazing Jane Haley Miller (red haired and smiley in the photo below) some Birthday related questions for a little Birthday Q&A

How did you get involved with Club Lash?

One of my best friends told me about Lash after going along with her partner. I went to the First Birthday at The Arches and didn’t look back. The person who introduced me was part of the social circle of people involved with Lash and I got to know Helen socially too. When Helen stepped back to work with a band, she put me forward to fill her shoes and that was it really! Helen came back to Lash and now it is the two of us (photographed above!)

Outline a favourite memory from the 17 year history of the club.

There are so many! The 10th Birthday Party at Legends was special! So busy and such a great night! I think overall though it would have to be all the friends I have made and especially everyone involved in organising Club Lash. I have some amazing friends because of coming to Lash and am still meeting new people and making new friends.

What advice would you give someone thinking about attending for their very first time?

Don’t worry! That would be the first thing I would say. We are really proud of the crowd that come to Club Lash and the atmosphere that this creates. There is no pressure to do anything you don’t want to and you will not be hassled by anyone. Some guests like to come, dressed up and dance the night away and others come specifically to use the Play Space. At the end of the day either is fine with us, we love providing a space for people to express themselves and feel comfortable doing it.

What part of the 17th Birthday party Club Lash did you enjoy the most?

This may sound strange, but my favourite thing was that I was fed, dressed, made up and relaxed when we opened the doors at 10pm. That was the first time this year! This led to having a fantastic night and really enjoying the wonderful atmosphere and getting to chat with people too.

Which upcoming theme are you really excited about?

Hmmmm, tough one. We asked our Group Members what themes they would like to see this year and have used all the suggestions to come up with some corkers. I think it would have to be Sci-Fi and Fantasy in August As a bit of a geek I love seeing the costumes people put together for this theme and there are always some really creative outfits to coo over

Thanks to Jane for answering my questions, maybe I’ll grill other Lash staff for future blogs…what do you think?

Mr Blisse and I had a lovely, relaxed night at Club Lash. We spent the evening chatting with friends and absorbing the atmosphere. That’s the great thing about it. If you want to play, you can play and if you just want to enjoy a relaxed night out in a place full of people who understand and accept you for just the person you are well you can do that too.

I’m very much looking forward to the next event which is the Masked Ball on the 9th May. I have wanted to attend a masquerade ball since reading hysterical…I mean historical romances back in my teenage years. I’m not sure I’ll have a dance card or that I’ll have to have a chaperone but there will be beautiful costumes and masks and opportunity to dance so I know it’s going to be fun. I might get to dance with a sexy masked stranger too, if I’m lucky. I’ll let you know all the details, promise!
