Well, it’s been a ridiculously long time since I last posted one of these, but I can confirm I’ve been walking, just not writing about it. However yesterday’s fun at church just demands to be written down.
As you know, I attend St Agnes – An Academy for Peace and it is the most welcoming, inclusive, loving church I’ve ever had the pleasure of attending.
One of the great joys is that there’s a real lack of pomp and grandeur. A church service includes everyone, sometimes involves swearing, a light sabre or sitting in a boat or like yesterday’s service – having sex.
No, you read me right. I had sex in church and it was good! Okay, I’ll tell you more. My vicar is awesome. We’d all shared a little bit of our lives (shared something we’re grateful for and someone we want to remember in prayer) and the fabulous Clive picked up on one lady’s recollection of a holiday with Sun sea and…
“I thought you were going to say sex.”
Yep, he said that. Right there in the middle of a church. It’d be surprising in any other, definitely but our Clive doesn’t shy away from such topics. He runs right at’em and hugs’em into submission.
“That’s what we’re doing here.” He continued, “having sex.”
We were procreating, as Clive said.
In our service we were encouraging and nurturing the great, all encompassing love of God. We were coming together, melding, sharing, being intimate together and igniting the flame of passionate inclusion. The joy spread, until we we were all encompassed by it’s embrace. Love vibrated among us and created something new.
A new spirit in each and every one of us to carry out into the world. The seed of generosity, kindness, care and love. And the cool thing is, we can go out and procreate with others, lots of others. And if we go out and procreate the Spirit of love long and hard…well we’ll make the world a better place. A kinder, lovelier place.
Phew, anyone would think I wrote this sexy stuff for a living, huh? ;)
So yes, I had sex in church yesterday and as it turns out, I have sex in church regularly. How amazing is that?
Now the call is for all you to go procreate. Do something good today. Talk to someone you’ve not spoken to in a long time, smile at a stranger, give a hug, help someone in need. Post something positive on your social media, donate some stuff to charity, take food to a foodbank…all these things are spiritual sex. Spread the love.
