I am, at heart, a simple woman who enjoys the simple pleasures of life and when I heard of a company combining two of my most favourite things I was very excited. Kink and Craft, Kink Craft. Genius.

I first met the Kink Craft crew at ETO, then I got to see them at work on their extremely busy stand at Sexhibition and finally I got to make my own mini paracord flogger at Smut Manchester.

Loved the experience so much I wanted to make another one at home. So the lovely folks at Kink Craft sent me a kit and I promised to blog about the kinky crafting.

So I got a lovely little black cube in the post containing all I’d need to make a mini paracord flogger. On the little card was printed the details of getting hold of the online course which would take me through the process step by  step and I had lengths of paracord, a roll of electrical tape and an O ring (totally appropriate name, that) all wrapped up in pretty pink tissue paper.

Now, the life of an erotica writer is never boring and I was a busy bunny when I first got the kit. Once I sat down to craft my flogger (I had to get it done, it was a gift) a month or so had whizzed past. This is where I got myself mixed up. Now, I’m confident I had all the paracord I needed to make the flogger in hindsight but when I found 2 bundles of paracord and the video talked about 3 (4 in total) I thought I’d managed to lose some somewhere. No, I’d just lost the plot. Never crossed my mind to measure the cord I had. So I ordered more paracord assuming I’d managed to lose some along the way. I hadn’t. So my mini flogger came out not so mini and with a black handle not a coloured one.

But that’s the beauty of Kink Craft. You can make and adapt the kits and courses to your own personal likes, wants and desires. And I was completely in love with my not-so-mini- flogger when I finished it.

Now, I must confess I had a little bit of a problem accessing my flogger course at first but the Kink Craft customer service was amazing and I soon had the access I needed and I was ready to craft.

The videos take you through everything you need to know, step by step. You don’t have to purchase a Kink Craft Kit to use the courses. They tell you precisely what you need so you could buy your own supplies and just follow the video instructions. It’s a very flexible approach and you can watch your course over and over again once it’s purchased, in case you forget a step when you go to make the item again in future.

Of course, getting a kit means you have all you need to hand straight away and that’s always a bonus. I found the videos really easy to follow and if I hadn’t quite mastered a step I could just rewatch it. The fiddliest bit I found was getting the paracord folded to the same length to feed it through the O ring ready to make the handle. That’s just because I’m all fingers and thumbs and I soon got what I needed to do.

Now, after the wrapping the top part of the paracord in electrical tape, my favourite bit began. Tying and knotting the paracord to make the handle is relaxing and fun. You can see the pattern appear with each new wrap of the cord.

I could sit and do that bit for hours, truth be told. It’s very therapeutic and rewarding to see your flogger coming to life.

Once the handle is made, you move onto the falls, yep that’s the technical bit for the stringy bits that dangle down. Falls is a far more romantic term, really, but those buggers have a sting in the tail!

Now, you can leave the little bits of white inner cord dangling out when you tie up the ends, but my aesthetic sensibilities just wouldn’t let me do that, even for the extra stinginess.

Tidying up the ends is easy and again, tying the knots is a relaxing and enjoyable activity. I had no problem whatsoever following the video instructions to get to the final product. You get to watch it and hear instructions and you can go over the same part as many times as you need.

I think that a Kink Craft kit is a perfect gift. Give someone something incredibly personal but not just an item, an experience. Or maybe you want to make a flogger for your Master or Mistress, give them the gift of hurting you with something you made or you could create one for your sub/slave so they know every hit, every stingy explosion was handmade by you to make them hurt in just the very way they love.

My flogger was very much appreciated by the recipient, much cracking and whooshing through the air was done within moments of me passing it over. Lots of fun and games will be had with that the flogger I’m sure of that. It’s always satisfying when someone you give a gift to so obviously loves it.

Kink Craft have a host of kits available on their site and their courses too as well as pre-made goods if you don’t fancy the DIY aspect. Get on over to the site, check out what they’ve got  and hurry, hurry and order now to get that special sexy something for your special someone. :)
