Confessions of a Snog-aholic

Hello. My name is Lisabet, and I’m a snog-aholic. And it’s all Victoria’s fault!

wetkiss

I’ve always loved kissing. On our first date, my husband-to-be kept me fascinated with tales of his international adventures, but it was our first kiss, on the sidewalk outside the Burmese restaurant, that really clinched the deal. I discovered that he was a “full-body kisser”. He drew me into his arms while sealing his lips to mine. Soft and cuddly in some places, deliciously hard in others, he let his hands wander while his tongue danced inside my mouth, tasting of the chilies that had spiced our dinner. He deepened the kiss, stealing my breath. I began to sweat despite the cool evening. Meanwhile he stroked my back and traced the curve of my hips, then cupped my buttocks and pulled me even closer. My body molded to his, swells and hollows perfectly matched. I forgot that we were in public, and I suspect he did too. We’re lucky we didn’t spend that night in jail for obscene behavior that night, as opposed to together!

Although I’m eager for kisses in the flesh, they tend to be relatively rare in my fiction, especially in my early work. My first books were erotica rather than romance, and rather edgy, extreme erotica at that. Although most of these books had happy endings, my characters succumbed to lust first and only later to love. When Victoria inaugurated her Sunday Snog tradition, I found myself scouring my back list, searching frantically for lip-locks. I was embarrassed by how few of my oral scenes involved mouth-to-mouth interaction as opposed to some of the alternatives.

Recently I’ve been making a conscious effort to slow my characters down and give them more time for kissing. As Victoria can attest, I’ve become a dedicated contributor to the Sunday Snog movement, a Snog advocate – a snog-aholic!

Next Monday, Total-E-Bound will release my M/M science fiction novel Quarantine. As I was going through the manuscript, evaluating my editor’s suggestions, I was pleased to notice that the book is chock full of kissing scenes (as well as other hot interactions…). I’ll be sharing some of them each Sunday in July.

In fact, I think I’ll give you a bonus kiss today. Because you can’t have too many snogs!

When love is forbidden, the whole world’s a prison.

Dylan Moore will do anything for freedom. Seven years ago, a gay plague spread to heterosexuals, killing millions and sparking brutal anti-gay riots. The Guardians rounded up men who tested positive for the homogene and imprisoned them in remote quarantine centres like desolate Camp Malheur. Since then, Dylan has hacked the camp’s security systems and hoarded spare bits of electronics, seeking some way to escape. He has concluded the human guards are the only weakness in the facility’s defences.

Camp guard Rafe Cowell is H-negative. He figures the lust he feels watching prisoner 3218 masturbate on the surveillance cameras must be due to his loneliness and isolation. When he finally meets the young queer, he discovers that Dylan is brilliant, brave, sexy as hell – and claims to be in love with Rafe. Despite his qualms, Rafe finds he can’t resist the other man’s charm. By the time Dylan asks for his help in escaping, Rafe cares too much for Dylan to refuse.

Dylan’s plan goes awry and Rafe comes to his rescue. Soon they’re both fugitives, fleeing from militant survivalists, murderous androids, homophobic ideologues and a powerful man who wants Dylan as his sexual toy. Hiding in the Plague-ravaged city of Sanfran, Dylan and Rafe learn there’s far more than their own safety at stake. Can they help prevent the deaths of millions more people? And can Rafe trust the love of a man who deliberately seduced him in order to escape from quarantine?

Excerpt

Rafe glanced up from his book―a real paper book, like he hadn’t seen in decades―at the sound of his lover’s voice. He nearly dropped the precious volume when he saw what Dylan had done.

“What the fuck? You look like a damn Marine or something…!” Dylan flinched like he’d been slapped. Rafe hastened to blunt the effects of his gut reaction. He forced out a chuckle. “I hardly recognised you―but that’s good, isn’t it?”

“Well, that’s the intention, anyway.” Dylan had dyed his fiery hair a mousy brown, then clipped it to a buzz cut that gave him a definite military appearance. He’s also applied some sort of chemical tanning compound to his normally pale face, which hid his freckles. He looked older and more rugged―more masculine, in fact. He didn’t look like Rafe’s lover, not at all. He certainly didn’t look queer.

Come on, Rafe mentally corrected himself. That’s just prejudice. Do you think look queer? “It’s such a difference, Dyl. Sorry to give you grief. I just wasn’t expecting such a big change.”

“Is it awful? Can you stand to look at me?” Dylan perched on the arm of Rafe’s chair, stroking his cheek. “I’m definitely not interested in getting caught, but it’s not worth it if you don’t want me anymore…”

Rafe grabbed Dylan by waist and tumbled the other man into his lap. “I want you, boy!” he growled with mock ferocity, slipping a hand down the back of Dylan’s trousers and giving the firm buns a squeeze. “You can do anything you like to your face, as long as you’ve still got this ass!”

Dylan squirmed against the rising bulk of Rafe’s cock. “My ass is yours. You know that.” His arms circled Rafe’s neck. His mouth fastened on Rafe’s in hungry glee. Dylan might look like a stranger, but he still tasted the same, still had the same teasing, energetic tongue.

Rafe basked in the sense of comfort Dylan’s kisses always produced. Their situation could hardly have been more precarious, yet with his arms around his lover, devouring that lush, sassy mouth, Rafe somehow felt safe. The connection was so strong. Rafe could practically read the other man’s mind. He knew the exact moment when Dylan’s hand would snake down between his legs to palm his erection, then start working at the fastenings of his fly.

“Let’s go upstairs,” Dylan breathed in his ear. “I’ll prove that nothing’s changed.”

I want to thank Victoria for having me as her guest. This post today kicks off my Quarantine blog tour, which will run through the 24th of July. I’ll be giving away an ebook to one commenter at each stop on the tour. So leave a comment – and don’t forget to include your email address so I can contact you!

I’ll also be choosing one commenter from the entire tour to win the grand prize – a $50 All Romance Ebooks gift certificate. Meanwhile, all comments at my own blog Beyond Romance during the tour will also go into the drawing for the gift certificate.

You’ll find the schedule for the tour in my July newsletter.
You can view the trailer here. It’s intense!

And if you’re interested in getting your own copy of Quarantine, the book will be out on July 9th. Just go to Total-E-Bound to pre-order!

I love that writers are really getting into the kissing scene. I love the sex scenes in erotic romances but sometimes a author by passes the first spark to get right to nasty parts. Lol

Ahhh, that’s so romantic! And hot! I’ve never been a fan of kissing. Of course, the guys I kissed weren’t very good at it, which could explain why…
