Friends Friday – Lizzie T Leaf.

Lizzie has come to visit today, make her feel welcome!

Life is About Attitude

I recently chatted with a friend whom I haven’t talked with in a few months. She moved out of state a couple of years ago and though I think of her often (she introduced the Honey and I), we don’t talk that often.

The day I called, she was in a meeting with her new business partner. PARTNER…since when? This was definitely news and if she didn’t follow up with her promise to call me in a couple of hours, I planned to stalk her until she dished the dirt.

She did call back and yes, she has started a business with her neighbor across they street and…they have a website to which she gave the address. Of course, I check it out and liked what I say…it is HER! And I figured out the business they’re into.

But the business and the partnership isn’t the thing that I focused on last night after I went to bed…it was a comment she made during our looooong conversation. She is excited about her upcoming birthday.

“This year, I’m entering a new decade and I’m so excited to see what great adventures life holds for me in this one…I’ve never been 80 before.”

That’s right folks, she’s turning 80 and not lamenting getting older. Though she’s old enough to be my mother, this woman’s energy can run circles around most of the people I know. Her zest for life on all levels is something every one of us can envy.

So when my family needs something ‘now’ or my editor calls and says “your book is releasing Saturday, you need to promote,” I look at my endless list planned for the day and resist the urge to beat my head against the keyboard. Instead, I think of my friend and how she’d approach it. From there, I put a smile on my face and say “sure, I can do that.”

My inspiration is an 80 years young woman with a positive attitude. And I want to be just like her when I grow up!

Linda Fillingim started life in Kansas, continued her growing in North Carolina, and currently shivers through the winters in Colorado. Her alter-ego Lizzie T. Leaf has numerous e-Books in varying lengths and her first print novel, STRUCK BY LIGHTNING, won dual 2007 Beacon awards, in addition to being a finalist in two other contests. Her novella, DEAD FAINT, was a 2008 Finalist for Best Vampire at Love Romances Cafe. Not a bad track record for a gal who came out of the closet with the dream to write in her late fifties.

When not writing, Linda spends her time traveling with her husband, gardening and playing Nana to her numerous granddarlings.

Lizzie’s latest offering is:

Following the Powers directive to unite soul mates, a Scottish Cailleach’s magic will have repercussions in several realms.
